Program Description
The Ministry Advancement Program (MAP) connects classroom instruction with practical experience. It is an on-going apprenticeship opportunity designed to develop each student’s unique gifts and talents in the three distinct areas of student involvement: 1) community 2) calling 3) character. Students receive ½ credit per semester
Program Objectives
1. Student growth through Community participation: 1) at SLCC 2) at a local church 3) within society.
2. Student growth in Christian Calling through spiritual and professional development opportunities.
3. Student growth in Christian Character through work.
Program Rationale
Phase One of MAP, designed for freshman and most transfer students, emphasizes Christian Character through apprenticeship work and ministry opportunities.

Phase Two of MAP emphasizes Community participation through apprenticeship work and ministry opportunities both on and off the SLCC campus.
Program Rationale
Phase Three of MAP emphasizes Christian Calling as students develop their spiritual gifts through leadership in ministry in the church and community.
The Ministry Advancement Program (MAP) connects classroom instruction with practical experience in the Adults in Ministry program (AIM). It is an apprenticeship requirement of professional field experience (PFE) designed to help students become servant leaders in ministry. Students receive ½ credit per term.
